For a long
time Cuzncindy has wanted to go for a ride on the Good
Year Blimp. She told anyone who would listen. Then one
day last year her boss, Fred MacLean gave her a ticket
he had won at a charity silent auction. The excitement
was unbelievable in our house for several days. Then the
blimp crashed in a thunder storm. The excitement changed
to disappointment. Then the replacement blimp arrived
and rides were on again. More excitement again.
So Saturday
was the big day, then 45 minutes before lift off the
phone rang to tell us the ride had to be postponed
because of wind and possible thunderstorms So we went
back to disappointment.
However
the ride will be re-scheduled sometime in the hopefully
near future.

The
people who were supposed to go today cancelled so they
called us to see if we wanted to go. Today is the second
day of the Fort Lauderdale Air and Sea Show which we go
to see some of from the blimp. How lucky can you get?
Cuzncindy's friend Pam said that her friend Dean, whom
we had met was going on the blimp this weekend too.
Turned out he and his friend Bob were scheduled on the
same ride. We didn't know Tom and Andrea but filled up
the other 2 passenger seats.
We left
from Pompano Air Port just a mile west of our place and
headed east to the beach flying over our place at about
1000 feet and 15 mph against a head wind.
Cuzncindy
put a banner on our porch whichwe could have seen if the
pilot, Larry Chambers flew a lot lower. From an altitude
of 10 ft this is what the banner looked like.
cuzncindy
was so excited on the day of the ride. Even the pilot
was concerned that she would use up all the oxygen in
the cabin. So we opened the windows and put her near one
of them.
