Hurricane Ernesto
started to get our attention last weekend as it moved
onto the island of Cuba where it spent most of Monday
beating itself into a tropical storm. Tuesday morning it
moved off the coast onto warm water and headed for
Florida. Cuzncindy headed out to the airport to go visit
with Eric and Andrew in North Carolina while Gene
elected to stay at home and guard the estate.
Contrary to current
wisdom the storm didn't intensify so when it came ashore
Tuesday evening in the upper Keys it wasa weak tropical
storm with sustained wind speeds of only 45 mph (72 kph).
So for the rest of Tuesday night and Wednesday morning
the weather was gusty winds and occasional heavy rain
showers. Thankfully the whole storm was no worse than a
summer thunderstorm. We have had our fill of hurricanes
over the last 2 years. We don't need any more. |
