Hurricane Dennis is bringing gusty winds of 25 mph (40 kph). We got a lot of rain earlier this morning but now it is cloudy and the sun is trying to break through. It looks like the hurricane is over for us. We dodged the bullet again.

We took a ride to the beach; lots of big waves and stinging sand being blown across the road. You know you aren't a tourist when the only time you go to the beach is to see the waves when there is a storm.

Hurricane Dennis is south west of Key West now. The wind here has died down some compared to last night but the radar shows the first feeder band is just to the south of us so I expect it to pick up soon and rain a lot!

The eye is 250 miles f(400 km) from here but with the present course it probably won't get much closer to us.

Hurricane Dennis is still to the south of us and the wind here is still from the east at 25 mph (38 kph). We're going to bed hoping that by the time we wake up the wind will have turned around to be coming more from the south.

We can see the eye of the hurricane now on the radar in Key West. The eye is about 270 miles (437 km) from the house.
